Iowa Odd Fellows Grand Master Michael Greenslaugh's 2024 goal is to raise $100,000 or more across the state's lodges, to donate to University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Cedar Valley Lodge 233's goal is to contribute $5,000 in 2024 towards the goal.
Our first event in 2024 was the Cold Plunge. On multiple weekends in January and February, we were joined by Thad Peck Motivational at Tourist Park to guide us through a dip in the freezing Cedar River. There are numerous documented physiological benefits from surrendering to a cold dip, but it definitely was a challenge! Lodge 233's Noble Grand Matt Miller survived 1 minute 48 seconds in the icy river. He was joined by his daughter and 8-10 others on 2 separate occasions. $536 was raised towards our goal.
